How to find your part

Three things find almost any part: the number off the old part, its size, or your machine's model number. Here is where each one is and how to read it. Or skip all of it — bring the old part to 910 Woodbourne Road and we will match it at the counter.

1. The number off the old part

Most parts carry their number: stamped on a belt, printed on a filter, cast into a blade, on the side of a spark plug. Type it into the search box exactly as you see it — dashes or no dashes, it does not matter. If the number is one that has been replaced, the search says so: Replaces 692236.

Several numbers? Paste them all, one after another — each one is answered on its own.

2. The size

No number left on it? Measure it and type the size — 1/2 x 38, 20x10-8, .095 — or open the aisle and pick the size from the list:

3. Your machine's numbers

Every machine has a model number and a serial number on a plate or sticker. Type the model number into the search, or tell us both when you call or write — a look-alike part can fit a different model, and the serial number settles it.

  • Walk mowers: on the deck, under the bag or at the back of the housing.
  • Riders and zero-turns: under the seat, or on the frame by the rear wheel.
  • Trimmers, blowers, chainsaws: on the housing near the handle, or under the starter cover.
  • Snow blowers: on the frame behind the engine or on the auger housing.

Engine parts use the engine's numbers, not the machine's. Briggs & Stratton stamps Model / Type / Code on the blower housing or valve cover; Kohler puts a spec number on the shroud; Honda's is on the crankcase. Write all of it down — the type or spec number is what picks the right carburetor or filter.

How to measure

Belt
Read the width across the top (3/8", 1/2", 5/8") and measure the outside all the way around — a string around the belt, then the string against a tape. A worn belt stretches, so the number printed on it is better than the tape. Type it as 1/2 x 38.
Tire
The size is on the sidewall: 20x10.00-8 is 20" tall, 10" wide, on an 8" rim. The rim is the last number. A tube is bought by the same size.
Saw chain
Three numbers: pitch (3/8", .325", 3/8" low profile) and gauge (.050", .058", .063") are stamped on the bar near the saw; count the drive links — the teeth that ride in the bar groove — all the way around.
Trimmer line
The diameter: .065", .080", .095", .105", .130". Thicker is for heavier brush; the head's manual says the largest it takes.
Blade
Length tip to tip, the center hole (round, star, or 5-point) and its size, and the distance between any outer holes. Bring the old blade if you can — two blades an inch apart in length do not fit the same deck.
Spark plug & filters
The number is on the part: along the plug's ceramic, printed on the filter. Type it in; a cross-reference finds the same plug under another brand.
